Dorothy Collins Howard, age 89, of Sandy Hook, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Elliott County Nursing & Rehab Center in Sandy Hook.

Born September 9, 1931, in Blairs Mill, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Dora Lykins Collins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Joyce Howard Kitchen; a son, Michael Lynn Howard; three grandsons, Steven Lynn Howard, Lonnie Wayne Howard, and Stacy Howard; two granddaughters, Debra Fay Howard Bellin and Donna Sue Kitchen Miller; a brother, Clayton Collins; and three sisters, Della Collins Cassity, Reva Collins Lewis, and Marlene Collins Clevenger.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Linville Howard, on May 7, 1995.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, Racy Blain Howard (Sondra) of Springfield, Ohio, and Rodney Dean Howard (Barbara) of Sandy Hook; a daughter, Angela Gail Pendergrass of Morehead; eight grandchildren, Tracy Donald Kitchen (Sandra), Kimberly Joyce Kitchen Powers, and Stephanie Jane Howard Adkins (Randy), all of Sandy Hook, James Galen Kitchen (Lisa) of Wittensville, Emily Janice Howard and Samuel Houston Howard, both of Lexington, Esther Nichole Howard Benitz (Nicolas) of Paris, and Brittany Danielle Easterling Cameron of Olive Hill; 17 great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

Other survivors include a brother, Alden Collins (Naomi) of West Liberty; a son-in-law, Donald Willis Kitchen of Sandy Hook; a daughter-in-law, Glenda Easterling Howard of West Liberty; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a homemaker and retired as a custodian from Laughlin Health Building at Morehead State University. Dorothy was a member of Oak Hill Church of God and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her family. She will long be remembered for her butterscotch pies, fried chicken, and sourdough bread.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 18, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Paul Skaggs, the Rev. Gary Madden, and the Rev. Galen Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Howard Cemetery, Orear Howard Road, Lytten, KY.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY.
