Benton Q Williams was the son of Eliza Emoline BELL WILLIAMS SNEARY and Samuel WILLIAMS.

Benton "Ben" Q. Williams was born Feb 1898 in Missouri. He was the son of Samuel Morris Williams and Eliza Emmeline Bell Williams.  In 1900, the family lived in the Roubideaux township, Texas County, Missouri.  In 1910, Ben and his siblings were living with their mother and stepfather, John Charles Sneary, in Enid, Garfield County, Oklahoma. At the time of Ben's death, his mother and stepfather lived in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, where his stepfather worked in the lead and zinc mines.

Ben served as a Private in the 16th Infantry, Company F, during World War I. He was killed in action on 04 Oct 1918, in France, shortly after his arrival from New York.

Ben's remains were buried at Chatel-Chehery, Ardennes, (northeastern) France, Grave # 5. According to military records, his body was disinterred on 09 Jun 1919 and reinterred at Argenne American Cty., Romagne-scus-Mont faucon, Grave #144, Sec. 26, Plot 3.

In 1921, Ben's remains were disinterred and returned to the United States. A military funeral was held for Private Williams at the Baptist church, Commerce, Oklahoma, on Sunday, 02 Oct 1921. Private Williams remains were laid to rest in the G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami, Oklahoma. Military rites were held at the gravesite, with a military rifle salute.  

PVT Williams was survived by his mother, five sisters, and three brothers.

The cemetery records for the time period are incomplete. The location of the grave is unknown.
