Linda A. Peters 1954 - 2021
NEW HARTFORD, NY - Linda A. Peters, née Thuener, age 67, of Utica, NY, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with brain cancer on Sunday, June 13, 2021, with her loving family by her side and forever in her heart.
Linda was born on February 26, 1954, in Niskayuna, NY, the daughter of the late Otto C. Thuener and Susan Thuener, née Harris, of Mohawk, NY. Linda attended Mohawk Schools.
In her early days, Linda was a well-liked waitress and manager at Friendly's, Herkimer and Jack Appleseed's, Utica. Her days in the service industry instilled in her a tireless work ethic, which would define her later life and career. She spent many years as a loving stay-at-home mom to her five children and working in her family's business, the former E.J. Peters Jeep-Hyundai of Yorkville, NY, where she ran the Dollar Rent-A-Car franchise and Linda's Limousine. Over the past 25 years, Linda earned a reputation as a dedicated and highly skilled realtor for Coldwell Banker Faith Properties.
Above all, Linda loved spending time with her family, whether it be vacationing on the St. Lawrence River, in Myrtle Beach, or just attending a backyard barbeque. An avid animal lover, Linda cherished her many family dogs and volunteered as a docent at the Utica Zoo. She was proud of all things Utica - the people, the food and the history. Her many wonderful friends will remember her intelligence, dry wit and generous heart.
Surviving family members include her mother, Susan Thuener; brother, David Thuener; sister, Cathy McElroy; and five children, Chad (Kathy) Hess, Casi Hess (Ben Hilts), Jon (Santina) Peters, Libby Peters (Sarah Stevenson) and Jordan (Jessica) Peters. She had eight grandchildren, Josh, Carson, Sierra, Kirsten, Misty, Shaundra, Findley and Lilian "Bean". Recently, she added three great-grandchildren. She loved to spoil each and every one of them and they loved their Grandma dearly.
She was predeceased by her father, Otto Thuener; and sister, Karen Thuener.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Hospice and Palliative Care's Siegenthaler Center for the compassion and excellent care provided to Linda during her stay there.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., at the Enea & Ciacca Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, NY 13357.
