Jeremy Jay Phillips, only 24 years old - A loving person with a very tender heart. Survived by his parents, Beverly and Tim Phillips; his brother, Daniel; and his sister, Christina. The family will have "A Celebration of Jeremy's Life", on Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. The funeral service is Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 5:00pm. Both events are being held at Wages & Sons Funeral Home, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046, 770-277-4550. In Lieu of flowers we are requesting that donations be made to Georgia SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) at www.georgiaspca.org or www.imalive.org , an online crisis network to help in the prevention of suicide. I just want to let the Phillips family know that all of us at the Georgia SPCA think of Jeremy often. He was so much a part of this place, and he will always be in our hearts. We know this time of year is hard for you, and want you to know we love you!

I only today heard the news of Jeremy's death and I can't stop my tears. My heart breaks for his family and for the loss of such a sweet and gentle spirit in this world. I knew Jeremy at the shelter and then later at Publix. At the shelter, his tender care for the animals there was so touching to me. At Publix, his smile and his expressive eyes spoke for him. I was so angry when Publix let him go that I never shopped there again. May God bless his family with peace and comfort and may Jeremy's lovely soul rest easy. What a loss for all.

I had the pleasure of working very closely with Jeremy at the SPCA. He was one of a kind, so quiet most of the time, yet managed to say so much with the sweetest gestures. I'll never forget how he'd bring me wild flowers that he'd pick up on his way to work, or how he'd care so deeply for animals who were neglected and afraid. He had a way of making people and animals feel special, even without saying anything at all.
