Thomas Guy Dooley went home to Jesus on June 3rd, 2021 at his home with his family at the age of 81. He was born May 1st, 1940 at the Multnomah County Hospital in Portland, Oregon.
Tom was the youngest of 5 children to his parents Gilbert H. Dooley and Francis A. Dooley. He attended Gresham High School with his first wife Nellie R. Phillips. They were married in 1959 at the age of 19. During their 15 year marriage they had 3 children. Michelle, Tommy, and Karla. Tom & Nellie divorced in 1974.
Thomas met his wife Ellen L. Schaffer and they married in 1975 adding Ellen's 2 children, Nicole and Sean. They enjoyed 46 wonderful years together.
Tom is proceeded in death by his first wife Nellie, Daughter Michelle, and 2 grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Ellen, 4 children: Tommy, Karla, Nicole, and Sean; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and his loving dog Twitch. During his life Tom enjoyed many things such as Fishing, Gardening, and painting. His mother raised him in the Christian faith, and it stayed with him throughout his life. He became a Sunday school teacher, and drove the church bus for church functions.
Growing up and throughout life, Tom moved quite a lot. He spent years in Arizona, where he fell in love with the desert. He had many jobs including working local nurseries, driving buses and limos, and doing auto body repair. He also owned his own bus / auto body repair business – The Bus Stop Body Shop. When he was at retirement age he just couldn't sit still so he took up the position as maintenance at his home community. He spent a lot of his time volunteering at the "Heslin House Historical Site." There he enjoyed sharing his years of gathered local knowledge with those who would listen and learn. Tom has a large family, he loved each person whole heartedly. He was a quiet man but near the end of his life he worried that his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren wouldn't understand just how much he loved them. They were his world, and wanted to be sure each one knew just how proud he was of them.
