HAMPDEN AND FRANKLIN, MASS. - Josephine Monforte Thompson, of Franklin, Massachusetts died on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, after a brief illness. Josephine, also known as Pippy to some, was born in Albany, NY on December 3, 1919. She was the daughter of Salvatore and Maria Monforte.

She grew up in Albany, NY, graduated from Albany High School and married her late husband, Lt. Col. Arnold F. Thompson, USAF Ret, also from Albany, NY. Her husband's service in the Air Force afforded her the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe as he was stationed at Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Germany. In 1959 the family moved to Hampden, Maine where she worked as secretary to the Principal at the George B. Weatherbee School before retiring and moving back to Albany, NY. Recently she moved to Franklin, Massachusetts where she resided for the last 4 years.

Josephine is survived by her three children, Patricia Thompson Fox of Atlanta, GA, Arnold Jeffrey Thompson of Fresno, Ca, and Christine Thompson O'Rourke of Norfolk, MA. She was predeceased by one brother and two sisters, Charles Monforte, Concetta Camivale and Paulina Marconi.

Private funeral services will be held at a later date.
