John Patrick Hendrickson was born to Jack and Margaret Hendrickson on January 15, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Later they moved to the Panhandle of Texas, outside of Borger.

John, or "Pat," as he was known went to school in Skellytown, Texas and later graduated from St. Gregory's Preparatory College in Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1955. Later that same year Pat joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany. There he met and married Gudrun Henze. They had three sons, born in Germany, then two daughters, born in Lubbock, Texas. While his work with the Air Force in Germany was classified, he did fly with President Eisenhower while stationed there.

Pat taught flight simulation at Reese Air Force Base, Texas, after returning to the United States. For the next 30+ years, Pat worked for Johnson Controls until retiring in 1994. For six of those years, he worked overseas in five Middle Eastern countries. After retiring, he went on to start his own testing and balance business until selling the business and retiring again in 2015 and moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Not able to sit at home, Pat took a security job with a rehab facility. While working there, Pat caught COVID and was hospitalized. He put up a fight but he wasn't able to beat it.

Pat is survived by his wife: Gudrun; two sons: Tim and Mike; two daughters: Margaret and Luise; his brother: Jeff; eight grandkids and 18 great-grandkids. He is preceded in death by his son: Fred; and a grandson: Kayne.
