Stephanie Bucich-Fuller, age 61, passed away on May 31, 2021 at St. Joe's Hospital in Tacoma, in the loving presence of her family. She was born in Tacoma, Washington on November 14, 1959 to Paul and Valerie (Hayward) Bucich.
She spent her early years in Lakewood, Washington, moved to Guam for 4½ years, and returned to Tacoma where she graduated from Lakes High School in 1977, then went on to receive her BS from St. Martin's College.
After volunteering for two years in remote northern Alaskan villages, she returned home and started her career as an air traffic controller until she was forced to take a medical retirement. Stephanie concluded her professional career contributing to the community as a substitute teacher for various school districts in the Puget Sound area.
Stephanie was a devoted mother to her two sons, Andrew and Zachary. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Stephanie loved helping people. She was a problem solver and loved a challenge. She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life. She was also an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed gardening with her canine companion by her side.
Stephanie was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Parish and the Catholic Woman's Club of Pierce County, Washington.
Stephanie struggled with Lupus most of her life and battled it ferociously over the years. She was determined to live a normal life and with the help of her family, friends, and her deep Catholic faith, she successfully bore the highs and lows of living with an autoimmune disease.
She is survived by her sons Andrew (Jamielee) Fuller and Zachary (Lauren) Fuller, parents Paul and Valerie, sister Betsy (Dave) Frazier of Hood River, Oregon, brother Paul (Carol) Bucich of Sumner, Washington, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Her Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on June 15th at 1pm at St. Charles Borromeo in Tacoma, Washington.
