Robert Franklin Meinke, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away surrounded by family at home in Lake Elsinore, California on October 29, 2020, at the age of 86.

Born October 19, 1934 to Gustav and Gertrude Meinke in Lincoln, Nebraska, and raised in Crete, Nebraska, Robert married Delores Mae Saylor on June 6, 1953 and shortly thereafter they moved to southern California and raised their daughter, Teri Lynn, and son, Tracy J. In 1973 they settled in Hacienda Heights, CA, where he spent the next 45 years jogging, wood working, coaching Little League, and playing with his grandchildren.

Bob, as everyone knew him, was a hard-working husband and father, often working two jobs before settling into a career with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department where he specialized in latent prints and homicide photos. After 33 years visiting crime scenes, he retired in 1989 at the age of 55.

Robert is survived by his children, daughter-in-law Barbara June Meinke, grandsons Matthew Robert Meinke, Stephen Tracy Meinke and Lucas Joseph Meinke, granddaughter Emilee Rose McPherson, and great-granddaughter Annika Mae Lyn Meinke.

A private graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Covina Hills. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Robert's name to Sheriffs' Relief Foundation General Donations (Fund 4040), Sheriffs' Relief Foundation, 1515 Colima Road, Bldg. B, Whittier, CA, 90604.
