Actor. He was best known to film viewers for his roles in the films "Deliverance" (1972), "Network" (1976), and "Superman" (1978). When he was 19 years old, he landed a singing part in a local production of "Wilderness Road." He later worked in local theater companies before landing in Broadway in 1968 in the production "The Great White Hope." He made his "big screen" debut in the 1972 film "Deliverance." Besides "Network" and "Superman," he went on to appear in such films as "Nashville" (1975), "All the President's Men" (1976), "1941" (1979), "The Toy" (1982), "Back to School" (1986), "Rudy" (1993), and "Charlie Wilson's War" (2007). In 1973, he made his "small screen" debut on the series "The Waltons." He would go on to appear in such series as "The Rockford Files," "Szysznyk," "The Boys," "Roseanne," "Homicide: Life on the Street," and "Law and Order." Beatty was widely known for his voice role of Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear in the Toy Story franchise. He also made frequent appearances on the theatrical stage for the rest of his career.
