Chris Berg, 73, passed away on November 2, 2019 at Cottage in the Meadow surrounded by his family. Chris was born on October 9, 1946 the son of Babe and Christine Berg in Yakima, Washington.
His mother died just days after giving birth, his stepmother, Grace, raised him as her own.
Chris grew up in Toppenish and graduated from Toppenish High School in 1965. In 1966 Chris was drafted in the Army and was stationed in Germany. Chris met the love of his life, Jill, after leaving the Army in 1968, they were both attending YVC. Chris attended Central Washington University majoring in accounting but left when he was offered a job at Chinook Mobilelodge, he then went to Western RV and retired as a purchasing manager, after working there for over 30 years. Chris and Jill loved to travel together as a family, especially taking the family on the yearly trip to Lincoln City. They would enjoy many trips to Edgefield with friends as well. Chris loved to be out in his yard taking care of his poppies. Some of his favorite times were our annual Memorial Day fishing trips to Buffalo Lake. At one time he was an avid bowler, even winning a State Championship. Chris was someone that loved any and all sports, he loved to watch the Seahawks and the Mariners, he enjoyed a round of golf when he could get out. He enjoyed researching his Viking heritage.
Chris is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jill; daughter, Amy (Sean) Meara; three grand dogs; brothers, Paul (Kay) Berg and Jim (Kim) Berg and brothers-in-law, Patrick (Kay) McKelheer, and Barry (Ethel) McKelheer. He is also survived by his dog, Lucy, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Babe; mother, Grace; biological mother; Christine, brother, Dan Berg and father and mother-in-law, Joe and Vernieta McKelheer.
Per Chris' request there will be no services at this time.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in his honor to The Humane Society or any animal advocacy group of your choice in care of Brookside Funeral Home, PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936.
