Roberta Louise Akers Jones "Sam"

1943 - 2021

Bloomfield, N. Mexico—Roberta Louise Akers Jones

"Sam"

Roberta was born June 5, 1943, to Otis Lee (Jack) and Edith Bennett Akers. Berta, along with her sister Barbara, and brother Jack grew up in a loving home in Sandy Utah. Horses, cows and chickens kept them busy along with school.

She graduated from Jordan HIgh School and then took on the life she wanted. She met and married her sweetheart William Jones. Bill and Berta were parents to Todd, Lorri and Scott. Together they forged a life of adventure, hard work, and love. She always had big plans, and many ideas! They lived in Idaho and Bountiful Utah, where they settled.

Mom was always at all of the kids' activities, along with working full time as an executive secretary at several businesses, most recently being the State of Utah.

When the kids were grown, and they retired from work, they sold their home and most belongings, bought a motorhome and hit the road. Berta loved to travel. They went through

most of the western states, and stayed in Bloomfield, New Mexico.

Berta was a party planner and loved to be with family and friends. She loved camping, painting, and gardening. She was extremely creative, and loved to shop at vintage shops finding lots of treasures. Her garden was always exploding with color, and she knew the name of each flower. She created a home where you always felt welcome, with a meal coming soon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, and brother Jack.

Those of us left with her loving memory are her loving husband Bill, children Todd (Tiffany), Lorri (Dave) and Scott (Terri), 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, sister Barbara (Bob).

Her body was tired, and she was ready to go home. She is now healthy and free and we know there was a great reunion in heaven with those who were waiting for her. She passed away June 5, 2021, on her day of birth, which is very rare, just like she was.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, she will lay to rest in

Larkin Sunset Gardens.
