Wayne Walter Montgomery, 60, of Marengo passed away unexpectedly at home on June 9, 2021. He was born August 9, 1960 in Fort Leonard Wood, MO to Robert and Maryida (Fritsch) Montgomery. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1978 and lived his entire life in Marengo. He worked for 40 years at Schuring Farms in Marengo. Wayne married Dena (Cutts) on July 10, 1982. Wayne was President of the Marengo-Union Girls Softball for many years. For 20 years, he was a softball coach for MUGS and Marengo High School. He coached his daughter in softball for 12 years. Wayne was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a friend to all and would always lend a hand to his family and friends. Wayne was a very devoted husband and father. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man. He will be deeply missed by many. Survivors include his wife Dena (Cutts) Montgomery of 38 years, a daughter Chloe Montgomery, his parents Robert and Maryida Montgomery, sisters, Brenda (Karl) Meintz, Wendy Minakes, brothers, Steven (Sheri) Montgomery, and Nathan (Tina) Montgomery. His nieces, Katie Schroeder, Kelsey (Elliott) Anderson, and Kaela Montgomery. His nephews, Kody Montgomery and Kole Montgomery. Father-in-law, Robert Cutts and mother-in-law, Barbara Cutts. Brother-in-law, Dan (Andrea) Cutts. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Walter and Rose Fritsch and Wayne and Kathryn Montgomery and brother-in-law Dave Minakes. There will be a visitation from 1 to 4pm on Sunday, June 13 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Tuesday, June 15 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N. Taylor St., Marengo. The funeral Mass will also be live streamed on the Marengo-Union Funeral Home Facebook Page. Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marengo-Union Girls Softball.
