Laura I. Kovach, 83, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007. Born on Feb. 27, 1924, in Kenosha, she was a daughter of the late Giovanni and Elvira (DeAngelis) Travanty. As a lifelong resident of Kenosha, she attended Bain Elementary School, McKinley Jr. High School, and Mary D. Bradford High School. Laura worked as a waitress at Krok's restaurant for twenty-nine faithful years. On top of that, she continued to carry on her passion for cooking and serving people in any way that she could. Her passion for helping others aside, she will be remembered most for her wonderful homemade Italian cooking, holiday cookies, and her warm, generous, caring heart. While Laura loved spending time in her garden, she was most passionate about taking care of her family and spending time with her great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all. Surviving members of her family are her two brothers, Angelo Travanty of Kenosha and Daniel J. Travanti of Lake Forest, Ill.; three daughters, Patricia (Robert) Regner, Nancy Kovach, and Kathleen Kovach, all of Kenosha; two grandchildren, Christina (Scott) Kennow of Pleasant Prairie and Amy (Michael) Braun of Glendale, Ariz.; and her two great grandchildren, Kailey and Riley Kennow of Pleasant Prairie. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Kovach, two siblings, Emma Bertelle and Robert Travanty, and her parents, Giovanni and Elvira Travanty. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Malik Bandealy, Jamie Cairo MSN, and their compassionate staff for going above and beyond in their wonderful support and care of Laura during this difficult time. We would also like to thank Hospice Alliance and St. Catherine's nurses for their compassionate service as well. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 1 p.m. at the Proko Funeral Home. Laura will be laid to rest in St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening (TONIGHT) from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Proko Funeral Home & Crematory 5111 - 60th Street (262) 654-3533 Visit Laura's Online Memorial Book at: www.prokofuneralhome.com
