He was born Oct. 5, 1922 to the late Roy and Annie (Stambaugh) Walker.
He retired from the Carlisle Barracks; was an Army veteran of World War II, receiving the Purple Heart and was a POW; of the Protestant faith; a member of Disabled American Veterans, Newport VFW Post 34, Newport American Legion Post 177, and Capital City POW; volunteered with Creekside Fire Department, East Pennsboro Twp.; and enjoyed fishing, gardening and horseshoes.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Faye Smith Walker; two sons, David E. and Carl E., both of Camp Hill; a brother, Jim of Newport; a sister, Sally Nye of Dauphin; two grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mack, Robert and Paul; and a sister, Martha Bingaman.
Services were held July 13 in David M. Myers Funeral Home, Newport. Burial, with military honors by Newport American Legion and New Bloomfield VFW, was in Newport Cemetery.
