Bernice Joyce Williams, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in the comfort and dignity of her home with those she loved most in her heart.
Born in Dunkirk, New York on November 25, 1946, Bernice was the daughter of the late Silas and Queen Esther (Young) Williams.
As a young girl at the age of 9, Bernice along with her family relocated to Utica where she has since resided. She attended local elementary and middle schools, and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy high school. She furthered her studies at MVCC where she received an Associate degree in Business Management.
Bernice held employment as an Apartment Manager for Buck Property Management, Mayfield Housing Visions, and Academy Square Apartments where she worked up until her illness. She was a strong-willed woman able to overcome adversity and remain independent.
Bernice is survived by her daughters, Malina L. Carter, Lucille Carter, and Lauri A. Carter; her sons, Brian R. Carter, Michael C. Carter, and Jesse Pittman III; 22 grandchildren; and numerous loving great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by her sisters, Della M. Williams, Forestine Williams, and Maisa Laureen Young Williams; brother, Paul D. Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and friends, Hazel Pugh, and Janet Blair.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Silas Williams Jr., and Joseph N. Williams.
Interment in New Forest Cemetery.
