Yorktown - Thomas James Matthews, sadly passed away June 6, 2021. He was 38 years old. Tom waged a brief yet courageous battle following a recent heart transplant. He was born May 16, 1983 in Plattsburgh, NY to James & Kimberly Matthews. He graduated from Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School in 2002 and later went on to work for a carpenters union. In April 2011, Tom began basic training after enlisting in the National Guard, a service he was most proud of. He would devote 6 years of his life to the National Guard and later began work as a carrier in the United States Postal Service. Tom had a huge love of the outdoors. He enjoyed skiing, fishing ice fishing, hiking, the beach, simply being in the open air. On May 25, 2014, he married the love of his life, Christina Cicatelli. Tom leaves behind his cherished wife, Chrissy, his dear parents, James & Kimberly, as well as his loving father & mother in law, Gary & Rose Cicatelli. He is also survived by his sister in law, Stephanie Cicatellii, brothers in law, Gregory Cicatelli & Vincent Cicatelli, grandmother in law, Ann Serrecchia, and many aunts, uncles and cousins in his extended family. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Thomas & Olga Lamos and James & Mary Matthews. To honor Tom's life, family and friends will gather on Thursday 4-8 at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME 767 E. Boston Post Rd Mamaroneck, 914-698-5968. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 10am at St. Patrick's RC Church in Yorktown Heights followed by interment at Amawalk Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the American Heart Association,www.americanheart.org or to LiveOnNY, www.liveonny.org The family is most grateful for the organ transplant that Tom received and they strongly encourage everyone to consider the heroic act of becoming an organ donor.
