Margaret (Maggie) Swafford passed from this world into the arms of our Lord Savior on June 2, 2021 at 1:23 a.m. Maggie was a friend to many and a disciple of Jesus Christ. The world lost an advocate of kindness and love that was only rivaled by her generosity and her ability to brighten anyone's life when she was around. Maggie was a fighter and would do anything to help others and to pull our family together as we battled in this world. She was always readily available with words of encouragement and prayer for those in need, and she was not afraid to roll up her sleeves to get to work. She was always willing to volunteer for any just cause and for anyone she met. Maggie volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the Center for Books Program Anson Library, and so many church activities and fundraisers at St. Michaels Church and Christian Life Church in Anson, TX. Maggie also served as an advisor for the Ronald Reagan Amnesty for Immigrants program during the 1980's in Jones County. She served as the San Angelo Diocese President for the Catholic Diocese for 9 years and was a representative for the National Catholic Conference in Washington DC when Pope John Paul II came to the United States. Maggie was an unofficial foster parent to struggling families during economic/personal difficulties. Our home was never empty. At the age of 52, she went back to school to earn her GED and received her Phlebotomy Certification and CNA Certification a year later. She became a hospice caregiver after receiving these certifications for 5 years until she met and married Leonard Swafford and began her career as a classic car enthusiast with him. The two of them went on to win many trophies in their division across Southwest Texas and the Panhandle. Leonard and Maggie moved to Anson to remodel Maggie's childhood home and spend more time with family and friends. They lived in Anson until Leonard's passing in July, 2018. Maggie then moved to Waco, TX the last 2 ½ years of her life to be cared for and loved on by her daughter, Melissa and son-in-law, Mark. Throughout her lifetime, Maggie remained a steadfast and beautiful friend to all she knew and a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service for humanity and in the Lord. We love you, momma!

Maggie is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Swafford, her son, Stephen Patrick Parker, her parents, Merced Munoz and Donicia Munoz-Garcia, her brother Benny Munoz, and her sister Rosa Montanez. Maggie is survived her son, William Ralph Parker, and her daughter, Melissa Parker Kemp-Bakic and son-in-law Mark Bakic. She is also survived by her two grandchildren Alison Therese Neatherlin and her husband Brian Neatherlin, and William Adam Parker and his wife Savannah Parker and 8 great-grandchildren, Ansley, Teagan, Ava, Tealyn, Asher, Paxton, Corbyn, and Payton. Maggie is also survived by eight sisters and one brother, numerous nieces and nephews, and an abundance of loving friends.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank momma's sister's Lenora Munoz Crouse and her family and Barbara Munoz Brock and her family for their willingness to travel to Waco every couple of weeks to be a part of Mom's last few years making lasting memories as sisters, motivators, and spiritual prayer warriors as she undertook this last stage of her life.
