Ray Donald Melton, age 83 of Elora, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born in Cannon County on April 29, 1938 to the late Foster and Ruth (McGee) Melton.

He spent many years touring the country, especially the southeast, performing music.

An avid sportsman, Ray was a fan of Florida State Football and Bobby Bowden as well as the Atlanta Braves.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Haskel Dee Melton.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Vannie Watson Melton of Elora; children, Terry (Pam) Melton of Atlanta, Georgia, Sonya Melton of Pensacola, Florida, and Tonya Melton (James) Blair of Panama City, Florida; and grandchildren, Caroline Melton, John Terrell Melton, Jamison Blair, and Brodie Blair.

Visitation will be from 11 am-1 pm on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Mike Robertson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Avalon Hospice.
