BIRTH
Joseph Bishop (Sr, in one document, his Will) was born about 1763 since his Will gave his age of 80 in 1843. He was born in Albany County, New York of British Colonial America. Joseph Bishop was the name, without suffix, provided in the index of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). His service in the military, however, was not verifiable according to DAR in 2022. His father's service, however, was verified by the DAR.
MARRIAGE
Joseph married Mary Clark in 1785. One son they named Joseph Bishop Jr.
Joseph married Margaret Curran in 1795.
Joseph probably married Lucy Weaver about 1800.
Joseph had many sons. He had several daughters, who married.
RELIGION
According to his Will, he was a Baptist.
OCCUPATION
He was a Farmer that owned his own land, and several houses.
DEATH
Joseph Bishop died on December 28, 1845, in Mulberry Creek, Hancock County, Tennessee. It is possible that only one child preceded him in death.
BURIAL
His Will requested burial in the graveyard of the Baptist Mulberry Gap Meeting House. In 2021 a photograph of his gravesite was requested from the Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery in Sneedville, Hancock County, Tennessee. At that time there were thought to be missing many gravestones, even of those buried there in the 1800s.
