Joseph Leo Baldwin of Warrington, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the age of 89.

Joseph was born in northeast Philadelphia on June 19, 1931, to father Leo and mother Edith (Mills). The oldest of two children, Joseph always remained close to his sister Eileen. Joseph was an industrious youth and created jobs like filling water bottles from a local spring and selling them in the neighborhood. He was a Boy Scout for many years and graduated from Northeast High School in 1949 where he studied commercial art, then got a business degree which led to a long and successful marketing career with Philco, Exide Battery, Renuzit, Lenox and Hunt Manufacturing where he spent over 25 years.

Joseph would often share the story of how he met his children's mother in Sunday School while they were in the 8th grade. After marrying Freda (Novak) in 1953 they started a family of 4 children and moved to Doylestown where they lived for 35 years until Freda's passing in 1997.

One of Joseph's lifelong passions was travelling. His love of travel started during his teen years as he hitchhiked with a buddy from the Poconos back home to Philadelphia after a summer working as a caddy. As time went on, he expanded his travelling across the globe from North Wildwood, NJ to Egypt to Innsbruck, Austria and Caribbean cruises. While he enjoyed travelling, he was not a fan of camping although he did take several family camping trips with his young family.

While Joseph playfully acknowledged his lack of handy man skills, he was a skilled artist enjoying photography, calligraphy, and painting Christmas villages and figurines while listening (loudly) to John Denver and the Philadelphia Mummers string bands.

Joseph married Elizabeth (Hunt) in 1999 and they continued their love of travel for over 20 years.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Edith, first wife Freda, sister Eileen and stepson Bill. He is survived by his wife Liz; children Scott, Kathleen, Michele, and Jennifer; stepchildren Lizanne, Neil, and Bernard; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A viewing will be Friday, June 18th 2021 at 11:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 12:30 p.m. at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church 1325 Upper State Road North Wales, PA 19454. Interment will follow at St. John Neumann 3797 County Line Rd, Chalfont, PA 18914.
