DARLINGTON — Funeral service for Ms. Delores Carraway Onwuka will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, in Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. E.P. Boyd, pastor. Burial will follow in Wilds Quarters Cemetery, directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home Inc., Darlington.

Ms. Onwuka died Friday, Jan. 4 at her residence after an illness. She was born in Darlington, a daughter of the late James and Mamie Lee Blathers Thomas Carraway.

She was a graduate of Mayo High School class of 1966 and furthered her education at the University of Iowa. At an early age, she attended Macedonia Baptist Church. She later converted to the Islamic faith.

Survivors include her companion, Lester Goodson; children, Terrence (Allison) Carraway, Jameel Ja Scott, Ngozi Onwuka and Daniel Blathers; grandchildren, Rashad Carraway, Tislam Blathers and Tristen Blathers; brothers, James Carraway Jr., Antonio Blathers, Wade (Gloria) Sutton, Freddie Sutton, Ronnie (Patricia) Sutton, Charles Sutton and Al (Deborah) Sutton; sister, Angela Sutton; special daughters, Sanovia Arceneaux and Tracy Black; very special granddaughters, Little Miss Makala Arceneaux and Little Miss Catherine; sisters-in-law, Adele Carraway and Catherine Sister Scott; special aunt Rose Lane; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The family is receiving friends at the home of a son and daughter-in-law, Terrence and Allison Carraway of 620 McCown Mill Pond Road, Darlington.
