James Edward Copeland, age 75, of Hueytown, AL., passed away June 8, 2021. He worked for Asbestos Workers Local 78 for 36 years. He was a member of Sparks Gap Baptist Church. He loved upholstering antique cars and traveling. James was involved in pee wee football for fourteen years as a coach, and he also was a coach for little league baseball. He always loved working with children and they loved him. James was an avid Alabama football fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents Emma Todd Copeland and Idus Copeland; brother Bobby Allen Copeland, Sr.; grandson Josh Cody Copeland, and daughter-in-law, Amy Knight Copeland.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Jean Copeland; son James "Jimmy" Edward Copeland, Jr., and Jason Edward Copeland (Traci); grandchildren Jessica Clement (Heath), Jamie Marie Abelson (Erin), Joey Copeland, Ashley Ogletree (Michael), Taylor Frederico (Marc), and MaKenzie Latham; great-grandchildren Liam, Victoria, Michael, Ellie Grace, and Charlotte; brother Idus Copeland, Jr. (Martha), and brother-in-law James Scott; a host of nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
The visitation will be Thursday, June 10, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday, June 11, 2021 at 12:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pates Chapel Baptist Cemetery, 190 Co. Road 295, Jemison, Alabama, 35080.
