William "Bill" Molumby, 88, of Mitchell, SD, died Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in Mitchell. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday, June 12 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday, at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service. Funeral arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

William R. (Bill) Molumby was born August 30,1932 to Raymond and Consuela (Felker) Molumby in Madison, SD. At age 12, he moved to Bremerton, WA and attended school there until age 17 when he moved to Mitchell, SD, and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1950. Bill began working at Johnson's Furniture in 1949 and retired as manager in 1994. On September 21, 1953, he married Shirley Herbst. To this union, two sons, Douglas and Steven, were borrn. On September 1, 2010 he married Dorothy Hamann Walz at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Bill was very active in the business community. He was a lifetime member of the Mitchell Elks Lodge and was a Past Exalted Ruler and Trustee for 30 years. He served on the Corn Palace Committee for 12 years when Corn Palace Week ran for an entire week, and exceptional talent such as Red Skelton and Bob Hope was brought in.

Upon retirement, Bill and Shirley traveled and camped extensively in their motor home throughout the Midwest, and locally, during the spring and summer.

Survivors include wife Dorothy; 2 sons, Doug (Julie) of Mitchell and Steve (MaryJo) of West Branson, MO; 3 grandchildren, Ashley, Christina, and Nicole; 3 great grandchildren; 3 step­children, Doug (Beth) Walz of Mitchell, Nancy (Pat) London of Mitchell, and Brenda (Jose) Toribio of Mitchell; 7 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren; brother, Dick (Marge) of Ogden, UT; and sisters-in-law, Diana Molumby of Burlington, WI, and Doris Herbst of Mt. Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley in 2005; his parents; brothers, Father Donald Molumby and John Molumby; and brother-in-law, Virgil Herbst.
