MICHAEL WALLACE ASHLEY, age 63, of Huntland, Tenn., departed this life on Wednesday, June 8, 2021, at STRHS Winchester, Tenn. following an extended illness. Mr. Ashley was born in Hammond, Ind. on Sept. 20, 1957, to the late Stobie and Carol Gilbert Ashley. He was a 1976 graduate of Huntland High School. After high school Mr. Ashley joined the U.S. Army and after his discharge he became a Residential Carpenter by trade all of his working years. He was a hard working and dependable person. He enjoyed fishing and was known by his friends as "worm slinger" a nickname given to him that most of his friends called him by.
Mr. Ashley is survived by his brothers; Mitchell Ashley of New Market, Ala., Rickey Treece of Skyline, Ala., Bobby Treece of Ft. Worth, Tx., Russell Kapelka of Cicero, Ill., sisters; Cheryl Miller and Lydia Gentry and husband, Darryl all of Scottsboro, Ala., Michelle Schwartz of Middleburg, Fla., several cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his faithful companion, Argon.
Services for Mr. Ashley will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 12, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Eulogist, John England, officiating.
Visitation is scheduled for 12:00 noon on Saturday prior to the Service at 2:00 on Saturday.
Interment will follow in the Keith Springs Cemetery in Belvidere.
