Funeral Services for Richard A. Sharp, Sr., of Bettendorf, Iowa will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Runge Mortuary & Crematory in Davenport.
Family will greet friends between 4-7:00 P.M. on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Mortuary. Burial will take place at Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to the family.
Richard died Monday, June 7, 2021 surrounded by family at his home in Bettendorf.
Richard Arthur Sharp, Sr. was born September 25, 1936 the son of Oria and Margaret Sharp. Richard served as a sergeant in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He retired from Oscar Meyer after 36 years. In the year 1960, he married Judith VanBlaircome and went onto have six children, Richard Sharp, Jr., Shay (Buddy) VanWinkle, Kevin (Pammy) Sharp, Rodney Sharp, Joey (Angie) Sharp, and Jeanne Avey. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Richard Sharp, Jr., sister Rosie, and great grandson, Alex Sharp. A special acknowledgement to his daughter, Jeanne, for the great sacrifice she made to take care of him and give him a comfortable life and home.
