David Keith Hathaway, 70, of Ewing Missouri, went to rest peacefully, in his home on May 30th, 2021.

David was born in Kirksville, Adair County Missouri on October 23, 1950, son of the late Lloyd(Donk) and Betty Hathaway. Preceding him in death along with his parents is his two sons: Gregory Paul and Travis David. Surviving family includes the following: Sister Linda (Harold) Barnes of Wright City MO, Sister Barbara (James) Folkerts of Amarillo TX, Sister Dixie (Vance)Parrish of Edina MO, Brother Jackie (Sheila) Hathaway of Belleflower MO. Grandchildren of David includes Brendan Thompson of St. Louis MO, Hunter and Paige Hathaway both from Fort Madison IA, Gage Hathaway of Syracuse UT and Greyson Hathaway of Montrose IA. Also surviving area several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

David attended school in Baring MO and graduated from the Knox County High School in EdinaMO. Through school, he made several friendships that have lasted a lifetime. His Christian life began as a child and blossomed in the Greensburg Christian Church located in Greensburg MO, where he spent his entire childhood. He attended and became an active member of several churches since then with the last one being Ewing Assembly of God in Ewing MO. He was well loved in his church family and they treated him the same. David was an active drummer in the churches bands to the best of his ability. David LOVED music! David LOVED his drums! David LOVED his cowboy boots! (And smelling good, did I mention that?). He began playing the drums at a very early age and would drive all of the family members and neighbors crazy with his songs he played on the drums. He was self taught and never had any formal lessons. He could not read music, but did not need to; he always had the rhythm inside of him. Over the years, he was in several different bands and made more lifetime friends. He played mostly in Quincy IL.

David has lived in Ewing for around 30 years. Prior to that, he had lived in Payson and Quincy IL. His employment was working in factories most of his life and some customer service positions. During his time at each residence, he again, made several lifelong lasting friendships.

Services for David are being held at the Ewing Assembly of God Church in Ewing MO, at 2:00pm on Wednesday June 9th, 2021. Pastor Elmer Hagood will be officiating the service. The burial of his ashes, along with his son, Gregory Paul, will be at a later date in the Payson New Cemetery in Payson IL where Travis David was laid to rest. If you wish to leave a monetary memorial in David's name, it can be given to his grandson, Brendan Thompson, at his service or left at the Church for him. All monetary memorials will go towards David's final costs and to his grandchildren. Our family sincerely thanks each and every person who has came into David's life and blessed him with such wonderful friends.

Bible Verses to Remember

MATTHEW 11:28-30

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my hoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.

JOHN 14:1-3

Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.
