Joe served in the Navy and after his naval service he became a Border Patrolman U.S. Department of Immigration in both California and Washington. Two children were born to Joe and Carol, a son Doug and daughter Kellie Jo. They lost their son Doug in a logging accident. After the death of his wife Joe moved back to Texas where he later remarried. He is survived by his daughter, Kellie Jo Turner Rosas and her family. His ashes were returned to Washington.
