Son of George W. Newman and Mary Magdalen Hagan. He Married Lucy Jane Raisor, daughter of Jacob Raisor and Martha Frances "Frankie" Rowlett, on 4 Oct 1865 in Switzerland County, Indiana. John was a farm and owned and operated a general farm for about 40 years in Franklinton, Henry County, Kentucky. After his wife passed away on 19 Apr 1915, John ended up in a home in the suburbs of nearby Louisville, called Central State Hospital. His last known record is the 1920 US Census where he can be found as a patient there, aged 81 years old. No death record has yet been recovered for him as Central State Hospital refuses to release records of its patients without having to petition the courts for basic information of our ancestors. Central State Hospital is an old facility with some horrific stories that can be found over the internet. It is assumed John died there in the 1920s and is buried on the grounds. As shown in https://kyhi.org/asylums/central-state-hospital/ there was an indecent in 1922 where 30-40 patients contracted pellagra. Perhaps he died from this incident or another. Either way, he was not on the 1930 Census and not additional records or death record has yet surfaced.
