She was born on September 7, 1938 in Alexandria to John and Margaret (Tomlinson) Bitner. Linda was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1956. Linda was baptized at Christian Congregation Church in rural Alexandria. She was a remedial reading teacher at Cunningham Elementary, assisting children who needed help learning to read, a job that she treasured. She later attended vocational school to become an LPN and worked at Community Hospital Anderson for 25 years. Linda served her community as a Tri-Kappa sorority member. She was active in her church when her children were young and loved her bowling league, and picnics at the park. She loved spending time with family, traveling, and watching her grandchildren in their activities. She loved to cook and bake especially at the holidays. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a thoughtful and fun friend, daughter, sister, aunt, a delight to all that knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Oris "Marty" Warner, daughters Debbie (Rick) Galbraith, Dawn Hill and Paige (Steve) Dooley. Grandchildren, Brady, Shawn (Amy), Dustin (Mende), and Maggie. Six Great grandchildren, sister Joan, sisters in law Linda and Sheri, brother in law Roger and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters (in law), and brother in laws.
Services honoring Linda's life, legacy and faith will take place at 1 pm in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria with Rev. Jerry Young officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. The family will receive friends after 11 am on Friday at the funeral; home prior to the service. The Madison County Nursing Honor Guard will conduct a Memorial Service at 12:45 pm on Friday.
