Dave lost his battle with pneumonia on Saturday December 5, 2020.

Visitation will be held on December 9, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Ankeny Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be held on December 10, 2020 at 10:00 am at Ankeny Funeral Home.

He was born the middle child to Marion and Ester Douglas on February 9, 1939. He was raised in Des Moines and graduated from North High School in 1957. He lettered in track with the relay team.

Dave joined the Army right after high school and was mainly stationed in Germany. He was also on the Army track team which enabled him to travel with the team.

After service he attended Grandview and Drake on the GI bill.

Dave mostly worked in the retail industry selling men's suits, so he was always a snappy dresser himself. He worked at Wilson's, Kucharo's, S&K, and retired from Younkers.

He was a lifelong Packer fan, an avid reader - preferring history books, had a passion for classic cars, but most of all loved time spent with his grandchildren.
He would drive all over the state to watch them play their sports and other activities, stopping at Casey's for directions if necessary.

He married Charlotte Spencer July 23, 1993; inheriting four step kids at that time along with earning the title of Bonus Grandpa and Old Maid Champion.

Dave was proceeded in death by his parents Marion and Ester and stepdaughter, Tamme Frazier.

Those left to share his memories are his wife Charlotte; a brother, Jim (Sharon); a sister, Janet; step-kids, Tom (Lavonne) Spencer, Deb (Craig) Hubby, and Ben (Tiffany) Spencer; 13 grandkids; 22 greats; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A private burial will be held at a later time.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
