Janice Eileen Houston, 74, of Golden, died at 1 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 13, 2008) in the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden.
Janice was born Nov. 25, 1933, in the Keller House in Golden. She was a daughter of the late Wilbur "Whip" and Adele (Flesner) Aden. She married Hubert Houston Nov. 30, 1952, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden.
Janice graduated from Golden High School where she was the valedictorian of her class, and Gem City College. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden. She was a partner with her husband on the family farm, and later worked for Eicken Implement Company in Golden, secretary for Dr. Chamberlain, and finally, as a secretary for J. Bower Realtor. Janice was a member of the American Legion Post 801 Women's Auxiliary, golf leagues and bowling leagues. She loved to fish, gambling at the boat, and going to Las Vegas. She loved her flowers. Janice also loved watching her grandchildren's sporting events.
Surviving are her husband, Hubert, of Golden; two sons, Rod (Cathy) Houston of Golden and Todd (LaDonna) Houston of Golden, and two daughters, Cindy (Tim) Keyes of LaPrairie and Kimber (Bryan) Deming of Hillsboro. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Doug (Katie) Foote, Nick Keyes, Mark (Dusti) Houston, Ashley (Kacey) Burton, Ryan Houston, Joey Houston, Rebecca (C.O.) Varnes, Michael John Houston, Cole Deming, and Dalton Deming; four great-grandchildren, Jonathan Foote, Zachary Foote, Ellie Kate Foote, and Dailey Houston; one sister, Darlene (Vince) Oberling, of Alamogordo, N.M.; one brother, James (Ruth Ann) Aden of Warner Robins, Ga., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Rebecca Kay Houston. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden conducted by the Rev. James Trutwin. Interment will be in Golden Memorial Gardens in Golden.
VISITATION: 3-6 p.m. Sunday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden.
