Ricky Wayne Martin, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on May 25, 2021 at the age of 71. He was born in Odessa, Texas January 17, 1950 to Mary and Don Martin. He was the oldest of 4 children and was close to his younger siblings, Charlotte, Donna and David. He graduated from Odessa Permian in 1968. Then he attended and played football for the University of Texas when they won the 1969 National Championship. He graduated from East Central State University, Ada, Oklahoma and went on to become a Certified Public Accountant. He enjoyed riding horses, spending time with family and friends, watching sports and western movies and dancing. He had a big personality and never met a stranger. His time with his friends were some of his favorites, and he loved telling stores about the fun they had playing football together at Odessa Permian. He was a loving grandfather who spoiled his grandchildren, and they will miss their "Bobots" dearly. He is survived by his wife Carla Avena Martin, and his children, Beau McMahon, and Christine Anderson and her husband Matthew, and his grandchildren, Katherine and Jack, and stepsons Gerardo and Yehudi Diaz. Ricky is also survived by his brother, "his best friend" David Martin and wife Melinda, his sister Donna Pufal and husband Bob, and numerous nieces and nephews. A service will be held at Ellis Funeral Home located at 801 Andrews Highway, Midland, Texas 79701 on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 3 p.m. Ricky Martin's family would like to thank Hospice of Midland for all their care.
