Dr. C. M. Hatch Wilcox
LOGAN—After a very full and wonderful life, Dr. C. M. Hatch Wilcox, 99, peacefully passed away early Friday morning, October 16, 2015, of natural causes due to advanced age.
On June 20, 1916, Hatch was born in the "Hatch Home" in Franklin, Idaho to the proud, first-time parents of Claude Alder Wilcox and Esther Iona Hatch Wilcox. He was raised in various towns in southern Idaho throughout his school years where he loved to box, play basketball and the saxophone. He developed his strong work ethic early in life as he worked the family farm near Hyer's corner during the summers in Lewiston, Utah.
Hatch and his first wife, Zelda Hale had two children, Judy and Richard. Hatch and Zelda later divorced.
Hatch met and married LaRue Dutson of Nibley in 1952 and had two children, Jean-Claude and Cindy. Hatch and LaRue were happily married nearly 63 years.
Hatch was a firm believer in education and practiced what he preached. Unknown to most, he completed barber and cosmetology school and was a cosmetologist prior to becoming a Naturopath.
During World War II, Hatch was deferred from service due to his employment at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation where he was the expeditor for the construction of the P-38 Lightning fighter plane. One of his favorite recent family trips was a visit to Hill AFB to see one of the P-38's that he help build. While working nights at Lockhead in California he was also attending school during the day to become a Doctor of Chiropractic. Later he received his Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine.
Hatch had his practice at the Hale Clinic where he worked side-by-side with Drs. Mel Rich, Alvin Hale and Wilford Hale. He was licensed as a Naturopathic Physician including Surgery, Obstetrics and Controlled Substances. He also held his practice in the evenings and weekends in Lewiston where he and his wife and children resided for over 20 years. After 50 years of practice, Hatch finally retired at age 80. Even to this day, former patients will express how much they miss the wonderful treatments and care they received from Dr. Wilcox.
Hatch was affectionately known as "Doc" by his friends and patients. He loved golfing with his family and friends. He enjoyed cheering on the Utah Jazz with his wife, LaRue.
He was a gentleman in every sense of the word and cared for all those he loved and knew. Hatch was loved and appreciated by them in return. He had a very kind way about him. A trip to the grocery store would last for hours as he would spend time catching up with family, friends and patients that he would run into.
For nearly four years, Hatch resided at The Terrace Grove Assisted Living Center where he received the loving and expert care that he needed in his final years. Karmon Reese and her staff treated Hatch like family and he loved all those who cared for him. The family would like to also thank Sunshine Hospice for their care of Hatch over the past several months.

Wilcox of Logan, and Dr. Jean-Claude Eben Wilcox and his wife Kay of San Antonio, TX; daughter Cindy Wilcox of West Jordan, Utah; step-son Stan Swenson and his wife, Trudy of Nibley; sister Cleoria Hancock of Pocatello, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Esther Vivian Wilcox, daughter Julona "Judy" Fackrell, and sister Claudia Berry.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 21 at noon at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan, Utah, where those who would like to share their memories of Hatch can do so. There will be a gathering of friends and family one hour prior to the memorial service at the mortuary.
