Charles Edward (Ed) Olmstead was born August 31, 1947 in Heber Springs, Arkansas passed away January 12, 2021.
He owned and operated Ed's Cleaners and Washateria from 1971 until 1985 running a very successful business. He went to work for Shelter Insurance in 1986 starting an agency from scratch. Because of his hard work and personality everything that he worked as was a success. While in Pine Bluff Ed was involved in many ministries including a city wide interracial pray group that prayed every week for over 10 years for the spiritual needs of the city. Charles Ed was a man that loved the Lord with his whole heart and was not afraid to ask anyone if they has a relationship with Jesus. While in Pine Bluff he taught Sunday School at Churches he attended. He joined the Gideon's in the late 1970's and was one of their most requested speaker. He had a wonderful way with words and was gifted with being able to speak to large groups and be at ease. He retired from Shelter in October 2010 because of health issues. He moved to Heber Springs in May 2014. It was a lifelong dream to move back to the place of many great memories from his childhood.
Charles Ed was known for his sense of humor, especially to his family. Who was often on the end of his jokes. Which he only did with those that he most loved.
He married Kathy in August 31, 1982. It was a standing joke with him that he got married on his birthday so that he could remember his anniversary. Charles Ed was adored by his nieces and nephews Erin, Jenny K., Jenny D,, John William, Grace Ann, Jessica, Taylor and Mark.
Predeceased by his parents William and Fay Olmstead and both maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Kathy, his sister Cindy Yokem (Mackey) of Conway and Laura (John (Durmon) of Fayetteville, two brother in law James Lowrey and Steve Lowrey and a sister in law Gwen Lowrey, his nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of life long friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM in Pearson Cemetery. The family ask that memorials be made to The Gideons
