David Allen Wood, 72, a lifelong resident of Anderson, IN went to his Heavenly Home on June 6, 2021, after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born on October 20, 1948 in Elwood to Paul and Phyllis (Wilson) Wood. David dedicated 33 years of his life to teaching and administrative work for multiple school systems. He was a school teacher for 15 years and an administrator for 18 years. He worked for Anderson Community Schools, Alexandria Community Schools, East Brook Community Schools, and the Indiana Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's Home.
David earned his Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, and Educational Specialist degree from Ball State University, where he was also a Varsity Baseball Letterman from 1967-1970. David faithfully served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After retiring in 2004, David worked part-time for ACE Signs, Ecksteins House of Trophies and Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home.
David was a lifetime member of the Alexandria Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, VFW, American Legion, AM Vets, Indiana State Retired Teachers Association, Relay for Life, Fire Rescue House, BSU Letterman's Club/Alumni Association, and St. John's Lutheran Church. In his free time, he volunteered for Community Hospital. David loved to golf, go ice fishing, take family vacations, travel to Panama City Beach, and spend time with his grandsons. He was an avid fan of the Colts, Pacers, Cubs, and BSU Baseball!
David will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Sharon (Teague) Wood; daughters, Amanda (Rhett) Cecil and Emily Capps; grandsons, Cooper Cecil, Caleb Capps, Cole Cecil, Cohen Capps; sister, J.
