Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Reed Warren Anderson, passed away October 24, 2002 of natural causes.

Reed was born April 12, 1918 in Emery, Utah, son of Wilson Warren Anderson and Angie Lena Nielsen Anderson. He was the oldest of twelve children. When Reed was nine years old, his mother passed away leaving behind a husband and several small children. Reed worked hard as a child to help his father raise his family.

After graduating from Emery High School, Reed attended LDS Business College and subsequently began his banking career at Utah Savings and Trust Company. Reed served an LDS mission in the North Central States Mission in Minneapolis, Minnesota from 1942-1944. He sold everything he owned in order to provide for himself during his mission.

After his mission, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served aboard the U.S.S. Ostara during World War II.

Reed returned to Salt Lake City where he became engaged to LaRee Turner. They were married on June 20, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple by Elder Harold B. Lee.

Reed was a hard-working, dedicated and honest person in everything that he did. He completed his education through the University of Utah and the American Institute of Banking. He worked his entire career of 44 years with Zions First National Bank. Throughout his life, he loved his garden. He could always be found in the early mornings and evenings working in his garden. Reed was a dedicated, faithful servant of the Lord. Among his many callings, he served as a Bishop's Counselor, Bishop, High Counselor, and Stake Patriarch. He also served as a tour guide at Temple Square, and an ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple. He was a member of the Mormon Battalion and Sons of the Utah Pioneers. Nothing gave Reed more satisfaction than spending time with his family. He loved music and especially enjoyed listening to his children and grandchildren perform. Though a sacrifice at the time, he made sure that all of his children had every opportunity available for education and music in their lives. As a role model for his wife and children, he was unsurpassed. His quiet, humble demeanor and unmitigated love was felt by all throughout his life. He was truly a man without guile.

He is survived by his wife LaRee; children, Brent (Maureen), Sandy; Marsha (Vernon) Dunn, Bluffdale; Jolene (Paul) Hobson, Burley Idaho; Renae (Brad) McKell, Draper; and Mark (Annette), Bluffdale; 24 grandchildren and nine great-grand-children. He is also survived by four brothers and six sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Emily and Greg.
