DAVENPORT, FL- Our Dear Mother and Wife, Virginia Taylor Bennett, 79, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, May 29, 2021.
She was born August 16, 1941, in Bladenboro, North Carolina to the late Angelyn Ellis and Lloyd Taylor.
Virginia was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister and Friend. Most importantly she was a Servant of Christ. She taught Sunday School class to children in the 60's and 70's at Central Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA. She was an active member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, Davenport, FL.
Virginia retired as an Office Assistant from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA, where she worked in the dispensary. After retirement, she and her husband, Edwin Bennett, lived out their lifelong dream of purchasing an RV and traveling the U.S.A. where they met many lifelong friends prior to settling in Davenport, FL in 2016 where they have Happily Resided since.
Besides her parents, Virginia is predeceased by her brother, Robert Taylor. She is survived by husband, Edwin Bennett; children, Diane Hobbs (David), Kenneth Green (Ursie) and Vikki Shelton (Sam); step-daughters, Tracie Sawyer (Steve) and Michelle Bennett; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Ellis (Royce), Patricia Allen; brother, Jerry Taylor (Sharon); and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 8th, 2021 at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel from 5pm-7pm.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, June 9th, 2021, at 11 AM at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. If you plan to attend the Funeral Service, please do not arrive before 10:50am. The service will begin promptly at 11 AM and we will need to be vacated by 11:45 AM. The Cemetery is very strict with this policy.
