Lee Hampton, Jr., age 78, peacefully passed away Friday, November 4, 2016 at his home in Waukegan, IL surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 30, 1938 to Lee Hampton, Sr. and Louise Hudson in Elaine, AR.
He attended Eliza Miller High School where he excelled in sports, football. Upon graduating high school Lee relocated to Waukegan where he began work at North Shore Gas as a utility technician. In 1967 Lee and Rosetta wed and began their life together. A unique soul, Lee was very funny, loving and for all who knew him a straight forward tell it like it is type of person. His love for airplanes led him to Skill Aviation Flight School of Waukegan where he obtained his pilot's license. Lee also had a profound love for sports, his favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs, Bulls and Bears.
He is survived by his wife, Rosetta (McGee) Hampton of 49 years; his children, Regina Blair of Waukegan, Jenean Hampton of Columbus, OH, and Cedric Hampton of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Takesha (Ricky) Hampton, Nakesha Blair, Dante (Star) Hampton, Lynnea Blair, Erica Hampton, Ashley Hampton and D'Aeris Hampton; great grandchildren, Nathan German, Dashawn Christian, Dante Hampton, Jr., Sanaa Hampton, Jaida Hampton and Arie Blair and a host of brothers and sisters in law family and friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Hampton, his mother, Louise Hudson, his father, Lee Hampton, Sr.
Lee is loved and will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
A Celebration of His Life Service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 800 S. Genesee Street, Waukegan, Illinois. Pastor Walstone Francis, Officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park Cemetery, Zion, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
