Edward Franklin Andrews, 88, formerly of 458 Fairyland Road, Lehighton, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, in the Mahoning Valley Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Mahoning Township. He was the husband of Ruth Anna (Wass-mer) Andrews.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, for many years. After his retirement from the Steel, he used his skills as a carpenter, mason, electrician and plumber to do odd jobs.
Born in Unionville on April 22, 1933, he was a son of the late Clair J. Andrews and Eva S. (George) Andrews.
He constructed an A-frame cabin at Bear Creek Lakes, where he spent many enjoyable hours hunting with his brothers.
Eddie loved to work in his workshop up in his yard. He was an expert grill master and enjoyed hosting picnics for family and friends in his backyard patio. He was known for his sense of humor and goofy jokes. He attended services at All Saints Episcopal Church, Lehighton.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a sister, Eva Dugan of Lehighton; two brothers, Earl (Mike) of Lehighton and Clair (Nutter) in Tennessee; two daughters, Joyce, wife of Robert Miller of Lehighton and Dawn of Allentown; two sons, Alan, and his wife, Jean, and Arlington, both of Lehighton; two stepdaughters, Trudy Miller of Jim Thorpe and Diane, wife of Charles Poandl of Charleston, S.C.; a stepson, Keith Walck, and his wife, JoAnn, of Easton; eight grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, eight stepgreat-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by five brothers, Clayton, Arlington, Miles, Willard (Jake) and Franklin (Pangy); a sister, Pauline Friend; a daughter Mary; and two stepsons, Kevin Dreisbach and Richard Walck.
Service: Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, 200 Franklin St., Lehighton. Interment, Lehighton Cemetery. No calling hours. A Celebration of Life buffet will be held immediately following the services at the Whispering Pines Banquet Hall, 1387 Route 903, Jim Thorpe, approximately a 15-minute drive from the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, 301 N. Second St., Lehighton, PA 18235.
