Richard Leo Lowry, 84, of Verona, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Hospice of the Piedmont Center for Acute Hospice Care in Charlottesville.
Mr. Lowry was born in Highland County, Virginia on July 3, 1936, the youngest son of the late Augustus and Viola (Edmond) Lowry.
Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lowry was preceded in death by seven sisters, five brothers, and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lowry was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are two sons, James Lowry of Staunton and Jerry Lowry (Kathy) of Stuarts Draft; two daughters, Cathy Hogsett (Charlie) of Verona and Debbie McPherson (Andy) of Staunton; seven grandchildren, Amanda Bunch, Ashley Floyd, Matt McPherson, Andi Lynn McPherson, Joshua Lowry, Joey Lowry, and Summer Conner; eleven great-grandchildren, and his ex-wife and friend, Lillie Lowry.
In keeping with Richard's wishes he was cremated.
A Celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the Salvation Army Chapel, 1700 West Beverley Street, Staunton.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
