Herrick, Shirley Mae and Virgil Cyril Shirley Mae (Hagen) Herrick passed away on May 4, 2020 at age 87, in Fridley Minnesota. Her husband Virgil Cyril Herrick passed away 8 days later on May 12, 2020 at the age of 89. Shirley was born May 14, 1932 in Montevideo, Minnesota. She went to St. Olaf College where she got her teaching degree. She taught in Fulda Minnesota before moving to Ashland Oregon to teach for a few years. She married Virgil Herrick July 6, 1957. They were active members of St. Phillips Lutheran Church in Fridley where they lived. They enjoyed golfing, bridge, skiing, and traveling. Shirley was active in the Weavers Guild of Minnesota, involved with both in weaving and knitting. She later started sculpting, and worked on stone as well as wood sculptures. Virgil was born September 1, 1930 in Montevideo, Minnesota. Virgil obtained Doctorate Degrees in Law and Business from the University of Minnesota and had a long-time law practice in Anoka County. He Served as a municipal Judge and was on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Pollution Control Board, St. Philips Lutheran Church, Minnesota Jaycees, Fridley Chamber of Commerce, United Fund, Macalester Alumni Association and the St. Paul Curling Club. He was the City Attorney for Fridley for 30 years. They are survived by their three children Gregg (Jennifer), Karin (John), Kathy, and 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Blair, Daniel, Erik and Anna, Shirley's sister Beverly (Hagen) Dorsey, and brother Floyd (Jaqueline) Hagen and Virgil's Sister JoAnn Meyer (Jack), Sidney Herrick (Nyla) Dallas Herrick (Judy) Kathy Grebner and his brother in-law Gordon Schroeder. Memorial service information will be available at a future date. We will remember their love of life, happy smiles, and will always carry their memory in our hearts.
