Son of Napoleon Bonaparte Binford and and Anne Snead.
Postwar, married to Evelyn Archer Leake Binford 5/6/1879, he was father of four children: Nannie Coles, Jesse Samuel, Kate, Helen. Moved to Georgia and Alabama working on the Railroads. Moved back to Va. where he was involved in starting Mt. Hope Methodist Church at Doswell. Lived in Verdon in 1895. Died of a heart attack. (Most postwar info courtesy of "deegraver" (#47071483).

Taylor's Battery (Bath Virginia Light Artillery), Huger's Battalion, Artillery, 1st Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.

Residence Henrico County VA; a 5'5 1/2", 16 year-old Clerk with fair complexion, dark eyes, dark hair.
Enlisted for the duration of the war on 3/24/1862 at Winn's Mill, VA, he was mustered into Company K, 2nd Regt Virginia Artillery as a Private. (This company had its beginninga as 2nd Company, Richmond Howitzers).
Absent, sick 10/1/1862; hospitalized 10/24/1862 Receiving & Wayside Hospital, Richmond, VA.; discharged for "Chron(ic) Laryngitis & Youth" on 11/21/1862; his laryngitis was also referred to as "aphronia" (whispered speech); paid $93.50 at discharge.
Appliedpetitioned 12/17/1862 for a clerical position within C.S.A. Govt.
He also had service in "D" Co. Mosby's Partisan Virginia Cavalry, appearing on 4th Quarter 1864 Clothing Receipt.
On 1/25/1865 he was mustered into Bath Virginia Light Artillery.
Present, on 2/28/1865 final Roll.
He was Surrendered on 4/9/1865 at Appomattox Court House, VA.

Eubank's-Taylor's Battery [also called Bath Artillery] was organized in March, 1862. It was assigned to the 12th Battalion Virginia Artillery, but became an independent company in August, 1862.
