Samuel Joseph Anatra, 85, of Crestline, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at OhioHealth, Mansfield.

Sam was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 2, 1934 to the late Matteo and Florence (Fanelli) Anatra. He married Josephine "Josie" (Zara) Anatra on May 7, 1955 and she survives.

Sam came from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has been a Crestline resident most of his life. Sam was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline. He worked at General Motors for 42 years as a General Supervisor in the Tool & Die department. Sam served his country in the Air National Guard from 1955 to 1960. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Crestline. Sam was an avid golfer and a member of Valley View Golf Course, Galion. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting. Sam loved his family dearly.

Sam is survived by his daughter, Michele (Les Cordone) Anatra-Cordone, Syracuse, New York; his son, David (Cathy Lowe) Anatra, Blythewood, South Carolina; siblings, Victor (Phyllis) Anatra, Ontario, Deanna (Lowell) Assenheimer, Bucyrus, Bernadette Wilson, St. John's Florida, numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his siblings, Infant brother, Bartolo Anatra, Matthew Anatra, Bartolo Anatra, Alex Anatra, Albert Anatra, Leo Anatra, Frances Abata, Marianna Neuman, Josephine Dunn and Florence Reinhard.

Friends may call on Monday, March 2, 2020 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main Street, Crestline. A Celebration of Life will be on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 4:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Crestline with Father Nick Weibl, Celebrant.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
