Dorothy L.C. Henderson 99, departed this life on Thursday June 3, 2021 at Regency Care Nursing Home, Springfield Il.
Dorothy was born on January 19, 1922 in Springfield. She was the only daughter of the late Julia Nelson and John Walker.
Dorothy attended Springfield Public Schools. She met and married the love of her life James "Fletch" William Henderson in 1937. She was a lifelong member of St. John's AME Church.
Dorothy worked for 40 years at Franklin Life Insurance Company. Starting as a part time Elevator Operator, from there she moved to full time as a Switchboard Operator and then to the Property Managers Office until her retirement.
Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a mother to many in addition to her own children and loved by everyone. She was always the life of the party!
Dorothy was proceeded in death by her husband James (1973), two son's James Garfield (1993) and John Robert (2017).
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted loving daughter Jacqueline Jean Henderson of Springfield.
