Katie enjoyed entertaining and cooking for her family, making gatherings fun and festive. Some of her specialties included cookies and breads of all kinds and delicious soups. There was nothing that this woman couldn't make, she could take anything and create a wonderful meal for all to enjoy. Katie was a proud and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother cherishing the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren creating many memories. She was also an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions and liked to play Bingo.
Katie and Lloyd enjoyed many family vacations traveling out west to several favorite destinations and all over Michigan in their Dutchman Camper packed to the top with kids and gear and motorcycles in tow. These adventures and trips continued on with her grandkids as the family continued to grow. Katie will be remembered with laughter for using her "spy glasses" to keep her young travelers in eye and ear shot of her at all times. During many of her travels Katie enjoyed shopping and adding many treasures to her collections of dolls, plates and her Christmas Village.
Katie was a member of CountrySide Wesleyan Church in Temperance, active in the Ladies Clubs for many years and she will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Carol Jean French; brother, Frank "Butch" French; sisters-in-law, Terry French and Terri French; brother-in-law, Bill Benz and grandson, Michael Jacobs. Katie is survived by her loving husband of almost 64 years, Lloyd Collins, Sr; children, Lloyd (Debbie) Collins, Jr, Dewey (Jane) Collins and Debbie (Jeff) Stevenson; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Patricia Benz, Melvin French and Ina (Steve) Sanders. Katie's memory will also be cherished by many extended family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 1:00 - 7:00 pm at Newcomer, West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Road (419-392-9500). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 7:00 pm. at the funeral home. Officiating will be pastor Cheryl Tucker.
