She was a Kindergarten teacher for over 20 years in Marshall ISD at William B. Travis and Robert E. Lee Elementary schools, completing her career in education as a librarian at Libby Elementary and the Primary campus in Carthage ISD.
She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Marshall, Texas where she also taught the Seasons Sunday School class.
Her hobbies included reading, cooking, gardening, needlepoint, sewing and enjoying time with family especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing the piano in her home and the organ at churches she attended.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Ned Calvert of Marshall, Texas; Children: Philip Calvert of Marshall, Texas, Matt Calvert (wife Molly) of Porter, Texas; Grandchildren Maggie and Canon Calvert of Porter, Texas. Numerous cousins and relatives from the Marshall and Gill communities.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents John Travis Wells (Father) and Johnnie Opal Allen Wells (Mother).
A time for visitation will be Sunday, June 6,2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Downs FuneralHome in Marshall, Texas. Services will be Monday, June 7 th at 2:00 pm at Immanuel Baptist Church in Marshall, Texas. Interment will be at Gill Cemetery following the ceremony.
