William H. Meyers (Bill) of East Chatham, NY, passed away peacefully at home on February 16th, 2020 at the age of 90. He was born on December 7, 1929 in White Plains, NY and attended Elmsford schools. He served in the USAF from 1951-1955 stationed in Okinawa during the Korean Conflict. He married his beloved wife Margaret (Peggy) in 1955 and they moved to East Chatham in 1969. He retired after 30 years with the US Postal service in 1985 and in retirement was employed by Delson's Department store and French Preiter Funeral Home in Chatham. Helmie was an enthusiastic model train collector and spent many hours building impressive train displays and attending train shows. He was an avid reader, flower gardener, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is pre-deceased by his parents Bessie (Sherwood) and William Meyer. He is survived by his wife Peggy, of 64 years, sons Bruce (Sarah) of Ghent, Jay (Cindy) of Old Chatham, and daughter Lori (Nick) Bervy of East Chatham, grandkids Matthew, Lindsay, Christopher, Kevin, Bethany (Kal) Lezak, and Elizabeth, as well 2 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
