METHUEN - Linda F. (Fancy) Gauthier of Methuen, a purchasing supervisor at US Filter in Chelmsford, died Wednesday evening, July 14, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen after a short battle with cancer. She was 56.
Born in Newburyport on Sept. 30, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Therma P. and Marion J. (Currier) Fancy. She was educated in Newburyport schools and graduated from Newburyport High School with the class of 1965.

She earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1974.

For many years, Mrs. Gauthier she was a Girl Scout leader for a cadet senior troop in Chelmsford. She helped several young women earn their Gold Awards.

In her free time she enjoyed antiquing, photography and traveling.

Her survivors include two daughters, Tammi A. Gauthier of Arlington, Va., and Nicole A. Gauthier of Portsmouth, N.H.; several cousins; and numerous close friends.
