Anthony "Amp" Howard passed away, on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Saint Vincent Hospital, in Erie, Pa. He was born on July 4, 1962 to the late Milton "Pookie "Jones and Betty Jean Howard Ellis and stepfather Henry Johnson, Sr.

Anthony graduated from Academy High, class of 1981. He worked for Saint Vincent Medical Center.

He enjoyed playing football and basketball, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Lakers fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed playing cards.

Anthony was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents - Drewey Roy Howard, Sr. and Janie Stepp Howard; paternal grandparents - John Gloria Jones and Maudie Brewster Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memory, mother - Betty Ellis; stepfather - Henry Johnson, Sr.; 14 siblings - Curtis Jones (Susan), Christopher Jones, Torrance Jones (Bethany), Marcel Ellis (Aisha),Tony Akins, all of Erie, Pa., Henry Johnson Sr. (Evelyn) of Brandywine, Md., Cedrick Johnson of Las Vegas, Nev., Philip Atkinson of Atlanta, Ga., Gwendolyn Jones (Edward), Cynthia Jones Barnes (Albert), Christine King, Andrea "Moochy" Jones (Dwight), Kimberly Barnes (Andre) and Tonya Akins (Larry), a very special cousin Roderick Jones, the following special friends - Sherrell Ross, Brown Bishop and Tony Crockett, all of Erie, he is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins, also many nieces and nephews, and his caregiver Marcel Ellis.

Friends may visit with the family at Greater Bethlehem Temple Church, 4103 Washington Ave., Erie, PA 16509, on Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where a home going celebration will immediately follow, Bishop John Crosby eulogizing. Interment will be at Erie Cemetery. Professional services are entrusted to Pitts Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave., Erie, PA 16504.
